Since 1990, GEA has worked in partnership with UNICEF and UNESCO on Education for All (EFA). EFA is a UN program that aims to eradicate poverty and to advance economic and social well-being in the poorest countries through basic education for poor and marginalized peoples. There is a particular focus on the issue of millions of women and girls who have not had access to basic schooling and livelihood skills. Among other activities, GEA associates have worked with UNICEF/UNESCO and local community groups in Kenya and South Africa to develop replicable models of EFA partnership.
