Come enjoy developing a spiritual and sustainable relationship with food at the Prairiewoods Franciscan Spirituality Center in Hiawatha, Iowa. This experience will present food as sacred and celebrate eating as a sacramental part of everyday life. The “2008 Prairiewoods Ecological Conference-Promoting Local Food” daily themes will be water, land and our bioregion. Each day’s activities will include workshops, fieldtrips, earth art activities or individual quiet time. Topics will range from: working on and learning from the land; visiting local food producers, and learning sustainable practices related to local foods. Saturday’s events will feature Patricia Mische who will speak and lead workshops on the topic of “Earth Spirit Rising: Food, Community and the Spiritual Journey on a Planet Hungry for the Fullness of Life.”
